Tansi! My name is Val Kachmarchyk, and I am the Rural Youth Support Worker with Post Majority Support Services at Mamowê Opikihawasowin. I began this role in July 2025 after more than 30 years as a school teacher, supporting children, youth, and families in their growth and learning.
Working with young people has always been a passion of mine. I focus on building trust, meeting youth where they are, and walking alongside them as they develop skills, confidence, and a sense of identity. I provide holistic support — spiritually, emotionally, physically, and mentally — and enjoy helping youth connect with culture, community, and their own strengths.
One of my greatest joys is being a mom and a friend to my two adult sons. I love them dearly and am grateful for the strong relationship I share with them. Outside of work and family, you can often find me on the golf course — one of my favourite places to be.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of Mamowê Opikihawasowin and to serve our young people with compassion, respect, and a commitment to helping them succeed.
